Crafts are a great way to engage children at Easter and although it is traditional to decorate hard-boiled or blown eggs, there are many other simple options on the market today.
Crafty kits and books will give traditional egg decorating a boost. Fluffy yellow pompoms can easily transform into Easter chics (and fluffy white pompoms into Easter bunnies) with a dollop of glue and carefully cut out felt accessories.
Try some of these simple ideas if you are looking to set your kids up with quick and easy crafts. They will make great gifts for proud grandparents and other family members!

- Place hard boiled eggs in a solution of food colouring, vinegar and warm water. When dyed to desired intensity, remove and allow to cool.
- Decorate with sticky jewel decals (available at craft stores) or use wood glue to adhere non-adhesive beads and crystals.

- Wet a kitchen/bath sponge and squeeze dry. Then cut into different shapes. Round corners with scissors for a smoother finish.
- Set acrylic paint in dishes.
- Sponge one half of egg and set to dry in an upside down egg carton or an egg cup.Repeat the process on the other end.
- Create egg-shaped cut-outs from Bristol board.
- Tear up scraps of wrapping paper, tissue, magazines etc. and collage onto egg shape with glue.
- Finish with a ribbon bow across the egg.
