Columbia Tristar Celeste And Jesse Forever Yes
A classic case of two people who don't realize what they have until they've lost it, Celeste and Jesse Forever is about a divorcing couple who've been best friends since high school and who continue to be inseparable even in their separation. Jesse (Andy Samberg) is an artist who loves to surf and lacks a sense of responsibility, while Celeste (Rashida Jones) is a pragmatic businesswoman who's used to getting her way. The couple's amicable separation has their friends feeling confused and uncomfortable, but Jesse and Celeste revel in their continued closeness until Jesse begins dating other people. As Jesse begins to mature and take on responsibility for his actions with his new girlfriend, Celeste makes some uncharacteristically irresponsible choices and starts to realize how much she previously took for granted in her relationship with Jesse. Eventually both Celeste and Jesse experience significant personal growth, but their respective maturation may prove too late for their relationship, and perhaps even their friendship. Celeste and Jesse Forever is funny, raunchy, and introspective, and although the pacing is purposefully slow, the film drags. Despite the tepid pace, Celeste's and Jesse's personal transformations in their new relationships are poorly developed and seem abrupt and unbelievable. --Tami Horiuchi Binding DVD.
